The Basketball Interview…with Bryce Irsfeld
Future Minnesota State-Moorhead Dragon lead guard Bryce Irsfeld opened up with NHR today about his thoughts and memories of basketball in, The Basketball Interview
At your school, what is your favorite part or parts about game days in terms of the routine leading up to the game?
My favorite part of my game day routine is taking a pre-game nap at my house for home games and on the bus for away games.
What makes your crowd unique? What is a memorable thing that they’ve done that you will always remember?
Our Spanish teacher, Señor E, will occasionally lead the crowd in cheers. Last year during the section final he ran around the court holding up a Tiger flag. Unforgettable.
Who is the toughest player you can recall playing against in Minnesota basketball and why?
The toughest player that I have played against in high school basketball is Brian Goodwin. He very rarely made a mistake.
Who is your biggest rival and what about them makes the rivalry both heated and memorable?
We don’t have one specific school that we consider a rival. We like to think of everyone as a rival and come out and compete like it.
Who is your favorite basketball player in the world and why?
My favorite basketball player is Chris Paul. I love how he uses his body to absorb contact and veer defenders to places where he can produce.
What brand of gear or type of gear are you partial to?
I have always been a Nike head.
What is your favorite venue to play basketball in that you’ve played in?
My favorite place to play is at home in Browerville. I love the jungle. This year will be even more special after our court was re-painted this summer.
If your team could play anybody on the state that’s not on the schedule who would it be?
I would like to play Melrose so Dillon Haider and I could settle some things.
Explain the relationship varsity players have at your school with youth players?
With our school being as small as it is, youth players are around us everyday watching us and learning from us. We also help out with Saturday morning practices during the season.
Best coaching advice you’ve received is what and who was it from?
Remember to have fun. – Matt Reimer
Who is your basketball influence?
My dad got me hooked on the game when I was really young. If there’s one person that I want to impress while playing, it’s him.
