Although teams are NOT coached by their high school coaching staff, This league provides an opportunity for individual players and teams to not only compete but to also get out some of the preseason jitters and mesh before the regular season starts. There are two separate league for Junior Varsity and Varsity, with game’s starting in September and running through October each Saturday right until the season is set to begin. So if you take a look at the current date you can see that we are getting close to the end of the season which means playoff time, and if last year was any indication, folks may want to stop in this weekend to get a close look. Last season I had the privilege of checking out the playoffs and championship game that featured Tripp Greene knocking down a game winning fall away trey to give his team the title. However what was even more impressive was the caliber players that were participating in this league, not only Tripp Greene but: Clay Mounce (currently at Furman), Bruno Solomun (Miami of Ohio), Akia Pruitt (UNC Pembroke) and many more college bound athletes. The organizer of the league is Kishon Bishop a man who not only cares about players on the court but also about the decision’s they make off the court in life. He’s a former college player as well as: a member of his native country’s national team, college graduate, coach and so on, so yes he clearly has the credentials to earn the respect of these young men.
How can I catch the action?
Well it’s pretty simple, games can be watched this upcoming Saturday October 29, 2016 at Calvary Baptist Day School, with Varsity playing games on Court 1 and JV playing Games on court two. Game will begin at 11 am and continue throughout the day with numerous teams’ competing for the opportunity to advance, this is a great league with great players so fans should definitely check it out!
