This was FTCC’s 2nd exhibition game while S4G had played in a preseason tournament the week prior, although both teams still have some work to do, there was quite a bit of talent on the floor and the game was competitive throughout. The following players were some of the guys that stood out and that college coaches should be keeping a close eye on:
· FTCC Guard Kenneth Walters put on an impressive scoring display, he has nice athleticism, a smooth handle, and the ability to lock up opponents on the defensive end of the floor. Will have to continue to add muscle to his upper body frame but D2 schools should be all over this young man. He plays the game with heart and confidence without a doubt, following this season he will have 2 years of college eligibility left.
· S4G 2017 Guard Josh Humphries played well throughout, he is a knock down shooter that knows how to create space to get his shot off without work. His footwork is pretty solid and he moves without the ball very well, so coming off screens is another way that he can be efficient. Is a high percentage scorer that plays within the offense, schools that need a scorer should watch him this season
· FTCC Freshman Guard Trevor Lewis is one that many feel dropped to JC due to the fact that he was under the radar. He has solid height for a PG and you can already tell that he has spent his fair share of time in the weight room. As the game went on he got better, especially with finishing inside over length, also has the ability to knock down shots from all levels.
· S4G 2017 Wing Aaron Burress was on fire from deep and was a key reason that the S4G squad came back from a deficit to win, he’s not necessarily a player that you want to create his own shot but off the catch he can knock down shots at a very high rate. Unofficially I had him down for 6 treys on the night and I only remember him missing one, he has decent size and weight for a wing as well
· S4G 2017 Wing Michael Medlin is a player that I’ve seen over the past few years and he has the potential to be special, throughout the game he showed flashes of how good he can be. He has nice height, mixed with a long wingspan and the ability to use his craft moves to finish at the cup. The key for Michael is consistency throughout the game, as well as finding the balance of being aggressive but letting the game come to him.
