PrepHoopsNC #1 2017 SG Jatrious Smith– E.E. Smith HS (Fayetteville) Uncommitted– Smith is one of the most athletic players in his class. He spent the past season at Pebblebrook High School in Georgia and decided to return home this season. As of right now he is ineligible until January and it is still up in the air if he will play at all this season in North Carolina. As of late the University of Florida has reached out and he is still a wanted recruit for the 2017 class.
PrepHoopsNC #2 2017 PG Lavar Batts– Jay. M Robinson High School (Charlotte) VCU– Batts is a 6-foot point guard with a strong build, the ability to create off the dribble, can move the ball up the floor in a hurry, and can score at will. He has explosiveness and an ability to get the rim. He averaged 20.2 points for Jay M. Robinson HS and poured in 11.8 points to go along with 3.6 assists per game for Team CP3.
PrepHoopsNC #3 2017 F JP Moorman-Greensboro Day (Greensboro) Temple– At NCISAA powerhouse Greensboro Day, who won the NCISAA 3-A title a year before, Moorman averaged 14 points per game and led the Bengals to the state semi-final game, a loss to Kentucky bound Edrice Adebayo and High Point Christian Academy. PrepHoopsNC # 4 2017 PG Blake Harris– Word of God Christian Academy (Raleigh)- Washington– A skilled point guard who is underrated as a defensive player will thrive in Lorenzo Romar’s system at Washington. The future Huskie can score from all over the floor and can create off of his dribble or play off the ball. At Word of God, Harris will play a national schedule and will only get better before his time in college draws near.
PrepHoopsNC #5 2017 SG Kaleb Hunter– Neuse Christian (Raleigh)- UNC-Greensboro– Hunter is a big recruit for Wes Miller and the Spartans of UNC-Greensboro. He is a scorer, in a game last season against Greenfield School Hunter had 42 points, 18 rebounds, 3 steals and 3 blocks in a win. Hunter chose Greensboro over Arizona State, Middle Tennessee and Hofstra.

He was recently picked to join the U.S. Select Team that participated at 2016 adidas Eurocamp. Huffman, originally from Goldsboro, North Carolina is a 230 pound rebounding machine. Huffman uses his length and big frame to alter shots and can get great position down on the block and he dunks the basketball with so much force, he almost takes the rim down. He has a old school game and is ranked as the number 6 prospect in PrepHoopsNC for the 2017 class.
PrepHoopsNC #7 2017 SG Michael Hueitt Jr.-Northwood Temple (Fayetteville)- Old Dominion– Old Dominion University head coach Jeff Jones is a getting perhaps the best shooter in the country in Hueitt. Playing on the Nike EYBL summer circuit with Team CP3, Hueitt is shooting 47.5% from 3-point land and has made 56 shots from behind the arc. Over the summer Hamilton was invited to The USA Olympic Men’s 17U training camp at United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was one of 39 high school basketball players across the country to receive this honor. Hamilton participated in the 2015 USA Basketball Junior National team minicamp in October and was selected to the Junior National team last fall.
PrepHoopsNC #9 2017 F David Cararher– Wesleyan Christian Academy (High Point)-Houston Baptist University- Caraher plays at perennial powerhouse Wesleyan Christian Academy. He is a player with a high basketball IQ and does a lot of the “dirty” work to make sure his team is there at the end of the game to get the win. He played on the Under Armour circuit with Team Charlotte over the summer.
PrepHoopsNC #10 2017 F Ryan Schwieger– Weddington High School (Weddington)- Princeton– Schwieger is a skilled wing who can play almost every position on the floor.
