It’s safe to say that Liberty benefits from his presence. Although the 26th ranked 2018 prospect in Ohio plays the point guard, McQueen is accustomed to carry a team’s scoring load.
“I’m used to being the person who shoots the ball … I score a lot and score easily off the dribble. My first step and hesitation is crazy,” McQueen said.
Division I prospects under (about) 6’4” cannot rely on contested lay-ups at the next level. That won’t be a problem for McQueen.
“I only go to the hoop if I really need to. I shoot a lot from deep and I practice uncomfortable shots.”
The University of Toledo and the University of Michigan have been rumored as potential suitors for McQueen.
But, currently, McQueen mentioned three schools: Youngstown State, Duquesne, and Central Michigan.
“Central Michigan just invited me to a camp … I got a lot of Division I interest. I got a lot of letters,” McQueen said.
Furthermore, McQueen clarified via text that Duquesne and Central Michigan have shown the most interest.
“I’m not trying to go to a really big school. Somewhere I can play immediately or get a lot of playing time at,” McQueen said, when asked what he’s looking for in a college program.
Over the next few seasons, Prep Hoops Ohio would expect top-level Division II schools to show McQueen attention, along with a few more low majors. In order to earn that first offer, McQueen understands he must continue to add pieces to his resume. Lately, he’s been working on improving his help defense and a 2.5 GPA.
