Continue ReadingA prospect that was on my radar while at Northside Christian in Charlotte was 2016 PG Colton Cashaw. He was back on my radar again after this weekend this time playing with Combine Academy Charlotte at the 22ft Showcase Academy Cup. He won a state title at Northside Christian under head coach Byron Dinkins, a former NBA and Charlotte 49er star. He earned team MVP award and coaches’ award for Northside Christian as a senior.
Colton CashawCashaw is a smooth pure point guard who has good size, doesn’t make many mistakes with the basketball and has really good court-vision. Cashaw is a true leader on the floor and is very vocal while leading his team. He does a lot of the little things really well. He was impressive all weekend at the 22ft Showcase Cup. He had 24 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for Combine Academy CLT in a win over Combine Atlanta and scored 26 points today for Combine Academy CLT. He explains his game like this, “I play with with a high IQ of the game also with a lot of poise. I would say my game is a mixture of Chauncey Billups and Kyle Anderson. I compare my game to Chauncey Billups because I am a big strong guard that can shoot it and I compare my game to Kyle Anderson because he is not the fastest but he out smarts everyone on the court and knows how to use his size to score.”
Cashaw helped lead Team Charlotte to the Under Armour finals Championship in 2015 coached by former NBA player Jeff McInnis. He was selected to NCISAA private schools all-star game also as a senior. He heard from TCU, Campbell and Kennesaw State as a senior at Northside Christian. He would fit well at a higher level Division Two school that would be a player who would consistent time all four years he is there and could also make a impact at the low-major to mid-major Division One level. Cashaw is a player that I will continue to watch his progression and he will make a college coach very happy.
