He is considered by many recruiting outlets to be one of the top football recruits in the country and he is ranked by PrepHoopsNC as the 48th best 2018 player in the state for basketball. At West Forsyth High School he is coached by another multi-sport star in his own right.
West Forsyth High School Head Coach Rusty LaRue was a standout in basketball, football and baseball at Northwest Guilford High School before he excelled in all three sports at Wake Forest University. After college he played professionally in the NBA and overseas. During his time in the league, he was a member of the 1997 Chicago Bulls that won a NBA Championship playing alongside Michael Jordan.
KJ HenryHenry is a defensive end on the football team and is ranked as the 17th best prospect in the country overall. His father Keith Henry is a former Wake Forest assistant coach who is now the defensive coordinator at Catawba. On the basketball court Henry is a beast on both ends of the floor. At 6-foot-6 and 220 pounds, he plays a physical game and has the athleticism and strength to challenge opposing players at the rim. He is blessed with great upper-body strength and great footwork for his size. He has a high motor and sprints from end to end on the floor. Henry is a underrated passer for his size and has a knack for knowing where his teammates are on the floor.
The big guy averaged 12 points and 6 rebounds per game last season for the Titans who finished last season at 16-11 overall and 9-3 in conference. West Forsyth lost in the 1st round of the NCHSAA 4-A state playoffs.
Almost every major college football program in the country has offered Henry a scholarship for football and as of right now he has offers from Hampton University and Longwood University so far for basketball. It will be interesting to see which was the two-sport star goes but one thing is for sure, he will be ok either way.
