If you just see his stats from last season this may seem like a stretch. But this well-built and supremely athletic stretch-four is exceptional. He spent his summer playing around the county with Kingdom Hoops Elite, and was dominant at times against the nation’s best. We expect that to carry over into his sophomore season.
First Team
2019 James Betz, 6’6F, G-H-V (9.2 PPG, 50 FG%, 46 3FG%, 6.1 RPG)
His numbers will swell this season after a summer of development with Kingdom Hoops Elite. Betz is Iowa’s 4th-ranked 2019.
2018 Ryan Smith, N/A G, Eagle Grove (15.7 PPG, 2.3 STP, 4.5 RPG)
He led the Eagles in points, assists, rebounds, and steals as a sophomore — certainly a bright spot on the five win team.
2017 Charlie Dugger, 6′ G, Lake Mills (12.5 PPG, 45 3FG%, 2.8 RPG)
He’s likely the best shooter in the conference now that his teammate Granger Kingland has graduated. Dugger shoots a lot, makes a lot, and hits at a high clip.
2017 Trent Pederson, 6’1 G/F, North Union (14.6 PPG, 7.6 RPG, 2.2 SPG)
This guy excels on both sides of the ball and is a big reason why North Union should improve upon last season’s 10 wins.
2017 Dylan Eckels, 6′ G, West Hancock (12.8 PPG, 3.3 APG, 3.3 SPG, 5.8 RPG)
A high-motor and competitive streak make this kid one of the more fiery guys in the conference, and it will show in the Eagles’ stat lines.
Second Team
2018 Trevor Hannah, 5’10 PG, Lake Mills
2017 Johnny O’Connor, 6’1 G, G-H-V
2017 Seth Weiland, 6’7 PF, West Hancock
2017 Nathan Eaton, 5/10 PG, North Union
2017 Sam Snyder, 6’4 PF, Forest City
Honorable Mention: Luke Groe (Lake Mills), Spencer Espejo (Eagle Grove), Gibson Behr (Bishop Garrigan), TJ Schnurr (Bishop Garrigan), Ryan Theel (Forest City), Austin Haisman (Buffalo Center), Cael Tenold (Belmond-Klemme), Leo Nelms (Belmond-Klemme)
