Though there is plenty of young talent that will make this conference decent for years to game, when it comes to best of the bunch this wily vet takes it no question. As a matter of fact, Phyfe — a Northern Iowa-commit — is more than just the best player in the conference, he may be the best big-man in the state.
First Team
2017 Austin Phyfe, 6’9 PF, Waverly-Shell Rock (14.2 PPG, 64 FG%, 1.8 BPG, 8.4 RPG)
Not only the best player in the conference, but the Northern Iowa-commit is one of Iowa’s best overall prospects.
2019 Jackson Molstead, 5’10 G, Charles City (15.5 PPG, 5.3 APG, 2.4 RPG)
If it wasn’t for Phyfe, this youngster would likely have been our nominee for Player of the Year. The future is bright for Molstead and Charles City.
2018 Cade Hemesath, 6’4 F, Charles City (9.5 PPG, 54 FG%, 80 FT%, 5.9 RPG)
The thunder to Molstead’s lighting, Hemesath is an efficient scorer who should improve greatly upon last season’s numbers.
2017 Spencer Cuvelier, 6’2 F, Crestwood (7.4 PPG, 58 FG%, 7.0 RPG)
The conference’s second-leading returning rebounder (behind Phyfe), and he shoots at a high clip too. Cuvelier could average a double-double this season.
2017 Lowden Rockweiler, 6’3 SF, Decorah (10.0 PPG, 5.0 RPG)
The leading returning scorer on a team that returns plenty of talent. Rockweiler will look to average north of 15 points per game this season.
Second Team
2017 Alex Kerian, 6’2 SG, Crestwood
2017 Nick Bockman, 6′ PG, Decorah
2019 Tristan Sweitzer, 5’11 PG, New Hampton
2019 Dom Robertson, 6′ SG, Oelwein
2017 John Stensland, 6’1 G, Waverly-Shell Rock
Honorable Mention: Noah Schlader (Charles City), Mike Cranshaw (Charles City), Shawn Shindelar (Decorah), Keegan John (New Hampton), Dillon Arndt (Oelwein), Tanner Mathis (Waukon), Luke Velky (Waverly-Shell Rock)
