We were introduced to Lshawn Davis by Basketball Elite scout Tony Bruton a while back, when Bruton mentioned that he was a fast player he was not lying by any means, its one thing to see a player on tape but seeing him in person I was even more impressed with the speed he plays with. Many people including myself hadn’t heard of Lshawn Davis so kudos to Tony for being the first to tell us about this young man. Even though he is a very talented player, this past season was the first opportunity that he had to truly have the ‘‘keys to the car’’ at his high school and he did not disappoint. Lshawn would go on to average 17 points, 4 Rebounds, 4 Assist and 4 Steals per game for his squad while also putting together some impressive performances over the summer with AAU team. Fast forward to July in Jacksonville, NC, this is where I got the privilege to watch this young man closely and I left the gym that day very impressive and intrigued with his talents.
What makes him special?
Speed and Quickness, first and foremost you have to love how fast this young man is with the ball in his hands, there are quite a few players that are quick end to end but they can be somewhat out of control. That’s not the case with L’shawn, he has the speed and quickness but knows how to use it without being reckless, his Ball handling is another impressive attribute that coaches will love. He knows how to use his dribble to get to his spots and doesn’t over dribble the ball on too many occasions, last but not least is his ability to score the ball. This young man can absolutely fill it, knocking down jumpers, floaters, etc. Don’t be surprised to see him put up some 40 point games this season and turn even more college coaches heads. He will need to add a bit to his frame muscle wise once he gets into college but that’s not too much to worry about, his skills and speed are already next level prospect wise without a doubt.
