Offers: Kennesaw State, High Point, Coastal Carolina, Charlotte, New Hampshire, Western Carolina and Winthrop.
2017 PG Tyler Maye decided to return to his hometown of Farmville, N.Car for his junior season. Having spent the first two years of his high school career at Greenfield School. Maye led Farmville Central High School all the way to a 28-0 record and a NCHSAA 2-A state championship. He was named MVP of the title game and for the year averaged 25 points, four rebounds and six assists per game. He scored 27 points in the Western Regional finals to advance to the state championship.
Maye is a true leader on the floor, loves getting others involved in the offense, has a high basketball IQ. He can score in such a variety of ways it makes it difficult on defenses to pick a way to guard him. Lay off and he will knock down the jumper. Play to close and he will drive by you and get in the lane. Has very quick hands on defense that causes problems.
Tyler was named second team All-State by The NCBCA(North Carolina Basketball Coaches Association), First-team all-conference pick. Scored 18 of 25 points in fourth quarter of 2-A title game to earn MVP honors. N.C.
“I am just focused on getting more offers and trying to win another state championship next season. I am just working hard and enjoying the process. ” I am looking forward to getting to know both of the coaching staffs and see how I would fit into their program.”
