Team Heat Elite 2020 had a stellar summer, in their 2nd year of existence. After finishing 5th in the nation last year (losing to Thunderstruck out of FL. in the nationals, which is a top 10 team in the nation in the 2020 class), they competed once again against some of the best teams in the nation. They kicked off their 2016 season in February by winning the QCAA NC Invitational which is one of the most competitive early season tournaments in NC. They beat Team Felton in the semis before rolling in the finals with a 30 point victory over AIA which had upset Team Charlotte in their semi-final contest. They won their next tourney in Easley, SC by beating a very talented Georgia Stars team twice in two days.

In April, they won the prestigious Knox-Vegas Invitational for the 2nd year in a row which was loaded with quality teams throughout the southeast. From Knoxville, they traveled to Atlanta and won the Hoopseen Super Regional by beating Georgia Rivals in the finals with a shorthanded team. To close out April, they played in and won the Phenom Hoops Grassroots Classic in Greensboro by beating Team Wall in the championship. In May, they started by winning Team United’s Big Shots Rock Hill tournament by defeating Team United in the championship. Two weeks later, they participated in the Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions event in Atlanta. They finished 3-0 in pool play and lost to eventual champions Team Glen Davis from New Orleans in the semis. This was their first loss of the season but they left it all on the court and had nothing to be ashamed of. From there, they played in the 15U division of Big Shots CLT and won the silver bracket. In July, they played in PHR’s CP3 Live event in Winston and lost to CP3 in a highly contested game in the championship.
