RETURNING STARTERS (Name, height, weight, position, year in school, 2015 avg, notes)
Rob Peterson – 6’6”, 205, G/F, SR., 12.9 ppg, 8.4 rpg, 2.8 apg, 1.1 spg – Rob will make a D1 program extremely happy. He has worked really hard this off-season and Charlotte Christian is expecting HUGE things from him this season. Holds a couple of D1 offers but is looking for the right fit. Rob plays with Flight 22 in the summer and is the son of former University of North Carolina Tar Heel Buzz Peterson. Rob gets to the rim easily and finishes in traffic with contact. He has increased his range and is shooting the ball better than he ever has of late. Should be a 1st team all-conference/all-state performer.
Kayle Mason – 6’4”, 195, G/F, SR., 9.4 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 1.3 apg, 0.8 spg – Kayle has had a very strong summer and should be a big time scorer this season for us. Kayle is a slasher who has really increased his range to extend beyond the 3 pt. line. Kayle is a great rebounder from the G position.
Terrelle Brown – 6’1”, 175, G, JR., 6.2 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 3.4 apg, 2.2 spg – Terrelle Brown is the best on the ball defender. Terrelle plays with PSB Select in the summer and has interest from a number schools. He has a tremendous ability to finish in traffic and has a nasty pull-up that is unstoppable. Terrelle is a tremendous rebounder from the G spot and attacks the front court on the break as good as anyone with a great change of speed and direction. He has excellent vision and a great handle.
J.C. Tharrington – 6’1”, 165, G, SO., 12.6 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 4.9 apg, 1.9 spg – Team leader and engine that makes us go. He is a dead-eye shooter and has unlimited range. He has the freedom to take any shot. He is a consummate leader and handles the basketball extremely well under pressure. His handles are tight and he always makes the right play. Very low ASST-TO ratio. JC holds a variety of interest from schools such as Davidson, Appalachian St., Wofford, and many others. He plays in the summer with Team United 15U on the Nike EYBL circuit and with new teammate BJ Mack. He is the 2nd best PG in the conference.
Seth Bennett – 6’2”, 175, G, SO., 5.8 ppg, 2.4 rpg, 2.9 apg, 1.1 spg – Seth has grown tremendously over the last three months and looks to make a tremendous impact for the2015-2016 Knights. Seth plays with the Charlotte Dragons in the summer and has gained strength and range in the offseason. Seth, already a great 3-pt. shooter, will look to increase his percentage from behind the arc and elevate his already tough on the ball defense.
KEY NEWCOMERS (name, height, weight, position, year in school, notes/awards)
BJ Mack – 6’8”, 245, SF/PF, SO., Transfer from Charlotte Catholic. BJ plays with current Knights PG JC Tharrington on Team United 15U in Nike EYBL. Holds offers from NC State, Virginia Tech, UGA, CofC, MTSU.
Heavy Interest from : UNC, Duke, Syracuse, Arizona, Xavier, Florida, Florida State, Wake Forest, and Virginia
MaxPreps Freshman All-American 3rd Team
Blake Preston – 6’9”, 240, PF/C, JR., 4.2 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 2.3 bpg as a SO. Receiving interest from a number of D1 programs including Lipscomb and Mercer last week. Working extremely hard and is flying WAY under the radar.
Garrett Shrader – 6’5”, 215, G/F, 2.1 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 0.7 spg as a SO. High-major D1 QB with excellent basketball ability, could develop into a special player. Loves Basketball
Efosa E-Udosomwan – 6’2”, 165, G, SO., Efosa comes up from JV this year and will look to get immediate minutes on the floor. He is a scorer and know how to get to the bucket. He has great basketball genes, brother Uyi was a defensive specialist for Coach Jeff Lebo at East Carolina University
