The athletic and bouncy senior averaged 15.5 points, 5.2 steals and 2.5 blocks per game last winter with the Blue Devils, and spent his summer playing with the Barnstormers’ 17U squad.
Still, his interest is lacking.
“Only one college has really talked to me, and that’s Kirkwood; they’ve come to see me play and we’ve talked a little,” said Miller who acknowledged that he feels under-recruited.
“I think if I would have gone to more camps I probably wouldn’t really be under-the-radar right now. But I am, I’m under the radar.”
Miller added: “I’m really worried about my recruitment right now. I hope colleges start looking at me. I still have my senior season.”
While running with Iowa’s premier grassroots program last summer (Barnstormers), Miller mentioned he gained confidence in himself as a player.
“I think I improved most on the defensive side, especially reading passes. And I was more aggressive than I ever was before,” said Miller.
“When I first started playing with them I realized that those players were all just like me, just trying to get somewhere in life and be great. And playing with them helped me realize that I can compete with most anybody in the country.”
Now, with his senior season at Davenport Central just months away, Miller says his job will again be to contribute in as a many ways as possible.
“Last year we learned how to win, and we’re looking to carry that into this season,” said Miller. “I’ll need to score, rebound, pass, and then just communicate with my teammates and be aggressive.”
