AAU Team: Team Loaded
If there has been one player that has raised their level of play and recruitment over the past year more than any other underclassman it would have to be Immanuel Bates. Bates transferred into Jack Britt HS and got straight to work, putting in the time on his game with the coaching staff and adding so much needed weight to what was a slender frame. Our first impression of Immanuel was that he had the potential to be a very good player/prospect and already had some of the things you just simply can’t teach such as a 6’10 frame with long arms. However it took him some time to put it all together, throughout last season he showed some flashes in games of how good he could be, and once the summer time came he joined Team Loaded and began to make a name for himself. Now with the school year upon us he has decided to transfer over to Northwood Temple, with Coach Corey Baker and fellow teammate Michael Hueitt Jr.
What makes him special?
To make it plain and simple, Immanuel is a true big man, he doesn’t mind playing inside at all and is becoming more comfortable with his back to the basket offensively. He is fairly aggressive attacking the basket and does a good job of keeping the ball high when inside the paint, he also has a short jump shot that he knocks down a decent rate. Defensively is where he is the most impressive, he is constantly snatching down rebounds and is a shot blocking machine, he does a good job of timing opponents so that he doesn’t leave his feet to early. What makes Immanuel such a scary prospect is that he’s still learning and it still raw so there is no telling how good he can be when it’s all said and done. We must remember that he still has two full years of high school basketball left and is getting better each and every time we see him, coaches will definitely be blowing his phone up over the next two years.
