He’s picked up two offers — a Division I and a Division II — since July, and says several other programs are hot on his trail.
“I picked up a Division I offer from Binghamton University, and also a Division II offer from Northwood University,” said Norris. “The other schools that are really interested right now are Liberty University, Air Force, and Hampton is interested.”
Binghamton was the first school to offer Norris at the end of the summer, and that was followed by Northwood which offered earlier this month.
“I’m not really focused on that (recruitment) right now. I mean it’s nice when schools come in and watch me workout and everything, but right now I’m just focused on the high school season, and trying to win a championship,” said Norris. “And for me, I still feel like I have a lot of time with the recruiting process.”
A true point guard, Norris says a strength of his is getting teammates involved, especially when his offense goes cold.
“First of all I think I’m just a winner. I think I can impact the game in a lot of ways if my shot’s not falling, and I can get all my teammates involved in the game and get them scoring,” said Norris.
“I need to work on my leadership, and leading the younger guys to getting ready for the varsity game. I think that will make me better and get me ready for the next level too.”
This winter will be Norris’ third season as the starting point guard for the Jaguars. Last season he averaged 16 points, 4 assists and 3 rebounds per game as a sophomore.
“We had a couple really good players last year who graduated. So my role is going to be a lot bigger this year,” said Norris. “I’m going to have to score a lot more, and just make even more plays for my team.”
