An easy choice, Elder is the leading returning scorer in the conference by seven points a game. He proved he’s not only a scorer by dishing out more than three assists a game as well. Coming off a solid summer with the Barnstormers, and with Zeb Adreon graduated, Elder could put up even bigger numbers for the Trojans this winter.
First Team
2017 Brady Elder, Pleasantville (22.5 points, 3.3 assists, 3.1 rebounds, 2.6 steals, 46.5 FG%, 79.7 FT%)
Elder attempted eight free throws a game last year, and is far and away the leading returning scorer in the conference. A fairly efficient volume scorer, he could become a 25-point a game scorer this winter.
2017 Mason Gossman, East Union (15.5 points, 10.1 rebounds, 45.5 FG%)
The lone returnee who averaged a double-double, Gossman is coming off a huge year. With him and Gabe Nixon back, the Eagles should greatly improve on their 7-16 record from a year ago.
2017 Gabe Nixon, East Union (15.3 points, 7.8 rebounds)
The other half of the East Union duo, Nixon proved to be a capable scorer and defender, leading the team in steals and blocks. He’s the second leading returning rebounder, behind only Gossman, his teammate.
2017 Dawson Tullberg, Lenox (8.6 points, 4.7 rebounds, 9.3 assists, 3.1-to-1 assist-to-turnover)
Tullberg was just the fourth leading scorer on his own team last year, but he dished out 214 assists, second most in the state, regardless of class. With two of last year’s top three scorers back, that number will be very high again.
2018 Carter Boothe, Central Decatur (9.8 points, 5.1 assists, 3.4 rebounds, 2.8 steals)
Boothe’s scoring numbers should skyrocket after the graduation of Peyton Pedersen and Nick Durell. He posted better than a 2-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio last year, and fills the box score in a variety of ways.
