He was the catalyst of 1A’s most high-powered offense last season, and had a summer with Kingdom Hoops Elite — playing against some of the nation’s best — to prep for his senior season. Glenn is a good-sized guard — nice build and decent height — and can score in a variety of ways, and is also capable of getting his teammates involved. Look for Glenn to post several double-doubles this season, and we wouldn’t be surprised if he sprinkled in a trip-doub or two.
First Team (2015-16 stats in parenthesis)
2017 Dylan Nichols, 5’9 PG, Orient-Macksburg (22.6 PPG, 84 FT%, 6.5 RPG)
The Bluegrass’ leading returning scorer, and he’d likely be a Player of the Year nominee in most other 1A conferences.
2017 Josh Dueker, 6’1 G, Iowa Christian Academy (20.0 ppg, 51 FG%, 2.8 SPG, 5.6 RPG)
An adept scoring guard who was able to put up very efficient shooting numbers last season despite his high volume of shots.
2017 Stephen Glenn, 6’2 G, Grand View Christian (15.6 PPG, 56 FG%, 45 3FG%, 4.3 APG, 3.9 SPG, 5.7 RPG)
There was nothing he didn’t do well last season as a junior. He’ll be a triple-double threat each night the Thunder take the court this winter.
2017 Thane Simmons, 6’7 C, Murray (8.5 PPG, 2.6 BPG, 6 RPG)
This pick may turn some heads. But the fact is, Simmons could average more than four blocks per game this season. His offense came a long way during the spring and summer too.
2017 Cam Arkema, 6′ G Twin Cedars Bussey (19.7 PPG, 3.2 APG, 2.3 SPG, 4.6 RPG)
Another star player who in many other conferences would be a Player of the Year nominee, Arkema should average north of 20 points per game this season.
Second Team
2018 Grant DeMeulenaere 5’9 PG, Grand View Christian
2017 Kenny Boles, 6′ G, Murray
2019 Arturo Montes, 6’5 F Grand View Christian
2017 Augustine Saliu, 6’8 C, Grand View Christian
2017 Bryce Keller, 6’4 F, Murray
Honorable Mention: Griffin Laib (Ankeny Christian Academy), Mikey Savala (Iowa Christian Academy), Bryce Alley (Lamoni), Blaise Cooper (Melcher-Dallas), Mateo Varese (Moravia), Parker Hitt (Mormon Trail), Keaton Gwinn (Mormon Trail), Jack Jones (Murray), Justin Jewitt (Seymour), Trace Embray (Twin Cedars), Mach Nyaw (Grand View Christian)
