The first time I was able to get a close look at Eric Fox was during the state playoffs this past season when Apex visited Seventy- First high school here in Fayetteville. Eric had an outstanding showing throughout that game, showing his ability to dominate inside and out, finishing with 28 points and 13 rebounds in a win. During this summer I also had the privilege of seeing him play again, although he didn’t have the same type of showing as before, he did show his talent and that he is a college level prospect that should be on coach’s radar.
What makes him special?
The ability to play inside and out is what makes Eric a player that college coaches should stop in and watch, he is comfortable with playing to his back to the basket as well as facing up in the post. Where he was the most productive however was in pick and pop situations and knocking down the midrange and short corner shot. Throughout the times I watched him, I was truly impressed with how well he shot the ball without using unnecessary dribbling. He also was productive on the glass, using his long wingspan to come up with rebounds at a high rate on the offensive and defensive end. He will need to continue to add some more weight to his frame but that will come with some extra time in the weight room once he gets to college.
Recruitment
As of now his recruitment has been quiet however division two, division three and NAIA schools should all keep a close eye and attempt to contact Eric. He’s an unselfish player that understands how to play in a system and also knows what it takes to win games, he’s not going to try to be the superstar of the team but will play his role the best he can.
