Last Season: 17-11 overall (10-4 in conference) Reached the second round of the 4-A NCHSAA state playoffs.

This upcoming season holds a lot of question marks for Broughton High School. The transfer of two of it’s leading upper classmen “bigs” (Jack Hemphill 6’8 and Jeremy Robinson 6’4) will have Broughton leaning on other returners even more than planned. The loss of Jack and Jeremy will have an impact primarily on the inside, but The Capitals do return a number of talented guards including:
Jessup Lowe2018 wing Jessup Lowe-terrific shooter and smart player
2018 wing Tyler Palmer-all-around smart basketball player, floor general, good shooter
2018 PG Jalen Finch-quick, athletic player maker, and strong ball handler
The leader on the boards for Broughton High School will be Jack Holloway, a 6’5 Senior. Jack will be perhaps the teams leader on and off the floor…he’s the kind of player coaches love.
A player to watch will be 2020 guard Carson McCorkle. McCorkle is ranked as the 5th best prospect by PrepHoopsNC for the 2020 class.
All four of these players saw significant minutes last season, so despite a couple of significant losses to transfer, there is also a lot to look forward to with key returners.
Broughton High School will play in what previously was the Glaxo, then High School OT Holiday Tourney (new sponsor, not sure the new name of the tourney) over Christmas at Broughton High School. Annually this tourney brings together some of the top players in the nation.
The Capitals advanced to the state championship game in 2013 behind star point guard Devontae Graham but lost in the final to Olympic High School 56-53.
