PrepHoopsNC takes a look at the top uncommitted seniors for the class of 2017 and what their recruiting is looking like with a big decision in the near future.
JJ Smith 6’4 wing- The former Ole Miss commit has reopened his recruitment after transferring back to Fayetteville for his senior season. He down his junior year at Pebblebrook High School in Georgia where he averaged 16 points and 10 rebounds per game. Smith has not decided on a hometown school to this date for his senior season. He is ranked #2 in the latest PrepHoopsNC rankings for 2017.
Smith had offers from Georgia, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech and drawn interest form Georgetown, Maryland, N.C. State and Wake Forest before he originally committed to Ole Miss.
Smith is an elite athlete with outstanding leaping ability, can score in a variety of ways. He is a slasher who can finish at the rim. He is a scorer that can shoot it consistently from three.
Expect the same schools that originally offered Smith to stay in the mix along with other power 5 programs.
Brandon Huffman 6’10 forward- The Word of God (Raleigh, NC) senior has been on a tear since picking up nearly twenty offers after a high summer with Team Loaded on the Adidas circuit.
Huffman is a skilled post player who can alter shots with his length and is imposing to opponents with his size. He is a powerful forward who does a good job of rebounding and getting easy baskets. Huffman has a high basketball IQ and can run the floor extremely well for a post player his size.
Huffman is ranked as the 6th best player in PrepHoopsNC 2017 rankings.
Michael Hueitt Jr., 6’3, shooting guard- When NBA star Jamal Crawford tweets about your shooting ability, it’s safe to say you can shoot the basketball. Michael Hueitt is the best shooter in North Carolina.
The rising senior played last season at NCISAA powerhouse High Point Christian but a spring coaching change sent Hueitt back home. He is enrolled at Northwood Temple in Fayetteville for his senior season.
Hueitt is ranked as the 7th best prospect in the PrepHoopsNC 2017 class.
Hueitt is a elite level shooter that can make a impact at the next level immediately with his shooting ability. Standing 6-foot-4, Hueitt has the ability to shoot over smaller defenders and the length to defend multiple positions.
He holds offers from Delaware, Charlotte, Buffalo, Murray State, Rice, Hampton, Old Dominion, Yale, UNC-Greensboro, Western Carolina, Missouri and Boston University.
