Carrawell is the son of former Duke star Chris Carrawell. He played in Durham for legendary coach Mike Krzyzewsk from 1996-2000. Carrawell was the 2000 ACC Player of the Year and a first team All-American. He was drafted by the San Antonio Spurs with the 41st pick of the NBA Draft in 2000 and is now an assistant coach with Marquette University.
Caleb Carrawell is a 6-foot-4 wing, who is an excellent defender with his long reach and has a knack for getting rebounds on both ends of the floor. He explains his game as, “I’m versatile I can play all positions I have a scoring mentality and live to play defense.”
Carrawell helped Cox Mill High School to a 22-8 record this past season including a 13-5 record in the Southern Piedmont 3-A Conference. His coach Jody Barbee had this to say about Carrawell, “”Caleb has a ton of upside in his game. He is a long athletic wing, able to create his own shot and attack the rim. His length can present issues when he is on the ball defensively. Needs to be more of a consistent shooter from all areas and continue getting stronger , improve his flexibility and improve his ball handling. The pedigree is in his blood lines, the sky is the limit for this young man. I think all lower level D1’s and mid majors should be all over him in recruiting. With all of the attention Wendell gets, Caleb could be the X factor in our 2016-17 season!!.”
“My goals are just to try and become best team player as possible and try and bring home state championship”, he stated about next season.
Colleges are starting to show interest in the rising sophomore, “Colleges that have called or talked to my dad are NC State, North Carolina, Charlotte, Creighton, Coastal Carolina, USC, DePaul, and Indiana State recently.”
With his dad playing at the arguably the Mecca of NCAA basketball, Duke University, Caleb has an idea of what he is looking at in a school at the next level. “What I’m looking at are just a family and how I can excel and the next level and become best basketball player I can be.”
