Vantage Hoops was in the gym to catch the action throughout the week. Below, we run down a scouting report of a few standouts from the class of 2018.
PF Eyabi Anoma | Team Melo
Despite rarely getting a play called for him, Eyabi Anoma found ways to make his presence felt in the paint for Team Melo. The strong power forward worked hard on the offensive boards. Anoma is an active workhorse on the glass with good hands.
PG Rasir Bolton | Team Loaded VA
Rasir Bolton showcased big time scoring prowess when his team needed it most at the Adidas Uprising Summer Championships. The rising junior was very crafty and difficult to contain off the dribble. Bolton’s jumper was consistently accurate off the dribble and from the catch.
SG Kiyon Boyd | Team Loaded VA
Another big time clutch performer for Team Loaded VA at Adidas was Kiyon Boyd. The sturdy and skilled guard often assumed primary ball handling duties where he used his strength and explosiveness to constantly create easy looks for himself and his teammates. Boyd is a big time player who has the ability to take over a game at any given moment.
PG Jared Bynum | DC Blue Devils
Coming off an AAU campaign in which he played up in the UAA with DC Blue Devils, it would only be right to see Jared Bynum dominate the 16U division Vegas. Bynum’s scoring prowess, skill, and basketball IQ were fantastic at the lead guard spot.
F Aaron Cash | Team Loaded VA
The super hard-working power forward Aaron Cash was an excellent producer in the front court for Team Loaded VA at the Adidas Uprising Summer Championships. Cash, who thrived in the open court, used his athleticism to create transition opportunities by consistently coming up with impact plays on the defensive end.
SG Myles Dread | Team Takeover
Myles Dread is the type of player who always has a pulse on what his team needs to get the win. If it’s a big shot, a rebound, or a charge, Dread is usually there to make the right play. All summer long, he’s been making winning plays for Team Takeover. Dread’s steady play continued in Vegas from opening tip until his team lifted the championship trophy.
SF Drew Friberg | Team Takeover
Sharpshooting 6-foot-8 wing Drew Friberg was a big time perimeter threat during the Las Vegas Fab 48 title run for his team. Friberg moves extremely well without the ball, and demonstrated good body control and strength when finishing around the rim in traffic.
