Continue ReadingAfter 11 games of his junior year Tywon Pickford was averaging a team high 18.1 points a contest but a second knee injury during his high school career knocked him out of play. Now he’s back, ready for his senior season.
Tywhon eventually recovered and played in some events with the D1 Minnesota Prospects club which helped him get his feel back for the game. It was a third year playing with the D1 Minnesota program.
“Going out of state and being able to play in front of a lot of college coaches plus playing against nationally ranked players was a great part of AAU,” said Tywhom. “I believe it made me a better player because I could compete at a very high level against numerous good players.”
Now its all about his final year with the Crimson. Tywhon has a key part of the Crimson team since day one of his freshman year. The 6-foot-4 wing scored 12.8 points per game as a sophomore and 6.6 points per game as a frosh before getting hurt.
Despite all the injuries Tywhon will likely hit the 1,000 point mark some time in February (692 career points). Pickford is preparing for his senior year with regular team workouts.
“We have team workouts every week Monday to Thursday and outside of that I would call up a couple of guys from the team and go to the gym with them and workout,” said Tywhon.
Pickford also wants to play college basketball but with no visits planned he’s not what’s next at the moment.
“At this point I’ve been getting interest from Nebraska-Omaha and Northern Iowa, but I’ve heard from Drake, NDSU, Minnesota, and Missouri,” said Pickford. “I don’t have any visits planned as of now but later on during the season I will.”
