“The visit was amazing, it’s a really nice area,” said John. “ I really liked the coaches and players as well.”
Cal was the latest to offer the 6-foot-9 John a scholarship but they put in a lot of effort to see Theo in July and they have continued to recruit him hard.
John picked up a few things that stuck out about Cal including how much the staff all over the Berkley campus enjoy their jobs.
“Well, the whole time was amazing,” said John. “I loved the location, playing with the players was nice, the people that work there from coaches to academics loved what they were doing and are very passionate about it. That all stood out.”
Theo visited Oklahoma late last winter, he saw Purdue late last spring/early summer on an official visit, was at Cal this past weekend, and he will finish up his visits with Marquette this weekend and Minnesota the following weekend.
Teams are starting to schedule some home visits as well.
“My schedule of visits remains the same but now Oklahoma, Marquette, and I think Cal as of right now are coming for in home visits,” said John.
Theo’s most recent visit to hometown Minnesota was in early July during Gopher Team Camp. Theo’s most recent comments about why Minnesota is a team he’s looking at were the following:
“Minnesota is home,” John said. “I would be able to work with people I know and people that I have been working with and being able to play for your hometown in front of family and friends would be pretty cool.”
Out of these final five programs what will be a deciding factor for the Champlin Park big?
“Relationship with coaches is huge, a place that believes in me. A place that is going to develop me, both on and off the court and lead me with a good set in life, whether that be through playing basketball in the NBA, which is my dream or with a good degree.”
Next on Theo’s schedule is next weekend’s visit to Marquette.
