“Simpson and Luther have been in contact with me. I’m thinking I’ll take visits when school starts here, I just talked with Simpson about it last week,” said Trainer.
“And a couple weeks ago I got a phone call from the coach at Luther.”
The senior prospect cites creating for his teammates and getting to the rim as strengths of his. And he mentioned to PHI where he’d still like to see the most improvement with his skill-set.
“My 3-point shooting definitely needs to improve,” said Trainer. “I’d like to get my percentages up in the 40s this season.”
After spending his spring and summer with Iowa Prep 17U, he says his shooting — especially from mid-range — is already much-improved
“I got us into sets and made sure we knew what we were doing this summer. And I was just out there trying to get shots for my teammates. I think my mid-range improved a lot, and my jump-shooting in general improved greatly,” said Trainer, who says his role as a senior with the Hawks will be to simply lead.
“Our expectations are pretty high. We plan on making it to state, and we plan on making a pretty deep run once we get there. I’ll need to be the vocal leader and show the younger guys that this is what you’re supposed to do, and this is the work you have to put in if you want it.”
