The 6-foot-7 forward has been very private over the last few months with his recruitment. And while most prospects are eager to tweet their offers and share the news with the world, Dentlinger is content being more under-the-radar.
“Right now I have five Division II offers, but I kind of want to keep that a little private. This fall I have a lot of visits planned and I’m going to just go from there,” said the Kuemper Catholic senior.
“I just like keeping low key, I’m not much of a public person. I haven’t really tweeted any of them out or anything.”
Though he elected not to share which particular D2 programs had extended the offers, he did mention specifically which Division I programs remain to be in contact with him.
“I’ve been talking to North Dakota a little, and South Dakota State too,” said Dentlinger, who says he’d be comfortable playing either D1 or D2.
“I’m pretty comfortable with either. I just want to be able to go to a school where I feel I fit in well, with the program and the entire school.”
With so many offers on the table, that means there will likely be plenty of visits to be had. Dentlinger says the right fit — both with academics and basketball culture — are key. And he has no specific timetable for when he’ll make his decision.
“I just want to visit the schools and see what they’re like. As for when I’m going to decide, it might be this fall or it might be after basketball season, I’m not sure yet,” he said.
“I’d say education is really important, like if they have some of the majors I’m interested in. And then just the culture of the school itself, and then the team and the coach.”
