“The top experience this year was coach Larry Suggs letting me play with the ball in my hands,” said Ja’Quan. “No coach ever let me do that, it brought my game to the next level.”
Sanders-Smith gave the Polars 9.3 points per game off the bench as a junior.
As a Grassroots Minnesota competitor in the NY2LA Basketball League he upped that to double figures each game and an excellent three point percentage in the two weekends of spring play.
After the strong summer Sanders-Smith is ready for a leadership role as a senior.
“I plan on making the younger players better and be a scorer because that’s what’s going to lead us to state,” Sanders-Smith said.
A few schools are now calling Sanders-Smith after his play with Grassroots Minnesota in the spring and summer.
“I’m hearing the most from Youngstown State, Western Illinois, Bradley, and Drake,” JaQuan said. “I would like to visit Youngstown State and Drake during Christmas break,” said Jaquan.
