Guse played with Minnesota Select Ohnstad for four months and had several memorable moments.
“Being able to meet new friends with guys I haven’t played with before,” said Guse about what he will remember from playing AAU basketball.
“And just seeing as a team how fast we could come together and play as a team. I believe that just playing against really good competition was one of the main things that has helped me get better. And also the style of game because it was a lot more physical than high school.”
Guse and Kaleb Nelson will be seniors who scored in double figures on average as juniors. Add in Cole Streich, sophomore Malik Willingham, Adam Schumacher, Noah Patterson, and Eric Maas and this is a strong group returning.
“This fall I will just try to get in the weight room and gym as much as possible,” Guse said.
“I’m in cross country so I am doing that to get in shape. And just try to get guys in the weight room and the gym as often as possible so we are ready to go when it comes basketball season.”
Guse also has to look college and the several options he has to play college basketball.
“Minot State, Briar Cliff, Waldorf, St John’s, St Olaf, Graceland, Valley City, Augsburg, Gustavus, and just recently started talking to MSU a little bit,” Jake said.
Guse has taken a couple visits and has a couple more to schedule.
“I’m going to visit Waldorf, and then I’m going back to a few that I’ve already visited, and possibly going to Graceland at some point and that’s all I have scheduled for now.”
