First and Foremost we have to give a shout out to Tony Bruton on letting us know about this young man, he let us know last year about his talent and potential and when we saw him he did not disappoint. Imajae Dodd is a youngster who has loads of potential and upside but at the same time already as a sophomore is showing talent from a big that you dont typically see. Throughout the season he put together some impressive performances scoring the ball and rebounding the ball, one game in particular that stood out was a 23 Point & 14 Rebound game in a win over North Lenior H.S
What make him special?
At 6’6 as a true freshman he already is a step ahead of many guy in his class off of height alone, however he doesn’t have a very slender frame like many young prospects. He can still add some more weight/muscle to his frame but he doesn’t have an issue with battling inside and doesn’t get pushed around by opponents. First thing that I noticed was his motor, he’s constantly working on the glass and battling defensively to come up with blocked shots and steals. Also he has solid hands at this stage as well, you won’t see many dropped passes from him and he has gotten to the point know where he is aggressive with finishing plays in the paint above the rim. His footwork is solid and he’s seems comfortable with playing with his back to the basket, however he does have a midrange jump shot in his arsenal that he knocks down regularly.
Recruitment
Just recently he picked up his first scholarship offer from Old Dominion University, but we still as though he is under the radar with many colleges but in due time that will change. He has all the tools to be a very special player, right now Mid Major schools should definitely be on him and if he continues to improve he could be a High Major prospect without a doubt.
