And after a strong July, he’s seeing interest roll-in from all levels — D1 through Division III.
“I got my first offer a couple weeks ago from Air Force. And some other schools that have been interested are Bethel College, Purdue Northwest. I’ve had some phone calls and texts from the University of Maine. And some contact with Ashland, and some Division III schools like Rochester and Otterbein. Those are kind of the main schools I’ve been keeping contact with,” said Puisis.
His strong July with Ohio Unity is what spurred the flood of interest, and in particular the Air Force offer.
“In July they came out and saw me play in AAU Nationals. They gave me a call after that and said they liked the way I played and gave me an offer. It’s kind of far away, but I’m planning on getting out there some time soon if I can for a visit,” said Puisis, who says recruitment is a top priority for him right now.
“It is a huge priority. I’m hoping I get a few more offers and a few more looks — just some more opportunities to widen the possibilities of what I can choose.”
Now that the sharpshooter has wrapped up his 17U season, he can shift his focus to his senior season with the Comets.
“Last year I was one of the scorers, and the team captain,” said Puisis. “This year I’ll need to be even more of a scorer, and be a bigger team leader and able to communicate better on the floor.”
