He’s hoping that with a big senior season, some additional college programs will take notice.
“A couple smaller schools like Simpson, and other D3s like Loras and Luther have been sending me letters. And I’ve talked to the Simpson coach a couple of times,” said the 5-foot-8 2017. “It’s definitely a priority going into my senior year, because that’s been my dream all my life is to play college basketball. But of course I want to win for my team, and that’s the most important thing going into my senior year.”
The Bloodhound senior-to-be was very good last weekend at the Norwalk Team Camp, netting 20 points in the game we saw him, and showcasing an unstoppable 10-foot mid-range game.
“I like to dribble-penetrate and kick to shooters. And I like the dribble-pullup and hitting a mid-range. And I can get to the rim and finish pretty easily,” said Richardson.
“I’d like to be able to make more plays per game. I want to be a more high-volume scorer, because that’s what our team needs this year.”
Unlike many of his peers, Richardson decided to forego grassroots ball during the spring and summer, and instead elected to workout on his own in Fort Madison.
Now, as he heads into his senior season, he knows this year’s squad is his to lead.
“My role my junior year was to score the ball and make plays for my team,” said Richardson. “And my role for my senior year will be a lot the same, except they’ll probably need a little more from me with Cam Chrisman (23 ppg last season) leaving. But, I’m looking for ward to it.”
