“There aren’t a lot of different schools recruiting me,” Hedstrom told NHR. “Mostly schools from the MIAC. Specific schools that I have been in contact with and have set up visits with are St. Thomas, St. Olaf, St. John’s and Carleton. I actually just visited St. Thomas a few weeks ago.”
With the kind of academic profile that Burt holds, his priorities are firm.
“Academics will always be the number one thing I look for in a college,” he said. “Other factors in picking a school are location and knowing that the guys already there would be fun to play with and be around. Also, on the basketball side of things, what style of basketball the team plays is important to me.”
Minnetonka will benefit from Burt being a senior leader as they lost several contributors to graduation. Add that in with a coaching change, and the Skippers will look quite a bit different.
“We obviously lost some great guys in Amar Miller, Seth Coatta, Cedric Boone, and Max Cooper, but I think the direction our new coach, Coach Freeberg, has us going in is a positive one,” Hedstrom said. “I think people will be surprised with how we play well together, even if we aren’t one of the more talented teams in the state.
“The way Zeke Carver-Bagley has been playing, he is going to turn a lot of heads. Matt Haas will also be a key guy for us and will play a lot better than most people expect.”
