The 5-foot-9 point guard is a pistol on the court, tough to stay in front of, and he excels at setting his teammates up for success. He could be in-line for a big junior season with a Perry team that should win a lot of games.
“I’m very physical on defense. I get up on you and make you handle the ball. I’m a good attacker, I like to attack the rim and create for my teammates, and put us in the best position to win the games,” said Ivory.
“I definitely need to improve on my outside jumper, it’s really inconsistent. So I’m spending a lot of time on the gun, and putting a lot of hours in at the gym.”
The talented 2018 recently wrapped up his 16U season, and was a vital part of Kingdom Hoops Elite’s success this spring and summer.
“It was a lot of fun, everyone really knew how to play the game,” said Ivory. “And it’s going to help me a lot during the school season. We played against top athletes around the country, and then when you come back and play school ball it’s a lot easier.”
Last season as a sophomore he averaged 6.2 points and 4.1 assists per game for the state qualifying Bluejays. This season his role will be much-increased, and his goals are set.
“Last year my objective was to play defense and dish the ball out, and help my teammates out,” said Ivory. “My role this year is going to be a lot different; coach wants me to score the ball, and be more aggressive on offense. I’d like to be first team all-conference, and as a team I want to get back to “The Well.”
