The 6-foot-3 sharpshooter recently wrapped up his 15U campaign with Martin Brothers, and is eager to get back to the hardwood this winter with the Falcons where he is one of the state’s most versatile young threats.
“I’m a pretty good spot-up shooter, and I can pull-up from mid-range too. And for my school team I’m the tallest guy on the team so I play the five, and I’m pretty good with my back to the basket,” said Cuvelier.
“I’m definitely working on my physicality, getting stronger and more athletic. And then improving my ball skills and my ball-handling, stuff like that.”
Last season as a freshman Cuvelier had one of the best seasons of any 2019 — averaging 9.6 points while connecting on 49 percent of his 3s and pulling down 5 rebounds per game.
“This year I’m definitely going to have to take on more of a leadership role. Last year we had guys like Nick Ellis and Nick Waller who had a lot of experience and had played down at the state tournament. So me and Cade Alberts will be two of the more experienced guys on the team, and we’ll have to be the leaders. And him and I will probably be the two main guys on offense as far as scoring goes,” said Cuvelier.
“And some personal goals for me is to just improve as a player and do whatever it takes to have success this season with Aplington-Parkersburg.”
