Standing 6-foot-6, Carter averaged 9.3 points and 7.2 rebounds this past season. Butler High School advanced to the 4th round of the NCHSAA 4-A playoffs before falling to North Mecklenburg High School 78-66. Butler finished at 24-6 and 11-1 in the Southwest 4-A Conference.
Carter spent the summer playing with Team Charlotte and Jeff McInnis on the Under Armour circuit. PrepHoopsNC caught up with Jahlil to see how his summer is going and what his plans are for next season.
PrepHoopsNC-Who all have you heard from recently and who has offered up until now?
Jahlil Carter- Queens University is my only offer so far. I’ve heard from Morehead State, Catawba, etc.
PrepHoopsNC- What are your goals for the summer and next season at your high school?
Jahlil Carter-My goal for the summer is to continue to get better and improve. Also put my name out there and put people on notice.
PrepHoopsNC-What are you looking at in a school when you make that decision?
Jahlil Carter- When I’m making the decision to attend school I will look for the school that feels like home. I want to fit into their program and have a strong relationship with the coaching staff.
PrepHoopsNC-What are the most important parts of your game and can you explain your game to me?
Jahlil Carter-The most important parts of my game are my energy and versatility. My game is all around and I do it all on the court. I can guard positions 1 through 5 and I can create matchup problems for any team on offense. I play with a chip on my shoulder every time I step on the court because I’ve been overlooked and I use that as fuel to push me.
PrepHoopsNC-What are some things do you feel you need to work on?
Jahlil Carter-I feel I need to improve in everything because to me there is always room to grow and improve. I’ll never stop working because when your not someone else is trying to take your spot.
