Continue ReadingRosman is a small town of 576 in Western North Carolina. One of 576 happens to be pretty good at basketball. Harper Reece, a 6-foot-2 point guard at Rosman High School is a speedster in the open floor and has had the starting job at since his sophomore year.
This past season Reece averaged 13.8 points, 5.8 assists and nearly 7 rebounds per game. He helped Rosman to a 17-10 overall record including a 8-4 Smoky Mountian Conference record. On his thoughts about next season, Reece said, “My goals for next season at Rosman High School is to lead my team to a conference championship.”
He is a long point guard that can attack the basket and can find the open man. He has the length to guard multiple positions on the floor and is best in the open floor. He can consistently make shots out to the 3-point line. “The most important parts of my game are my abilities to create for my teammates, score from outside or attacking the rim, rebounding from the guard position, and off ball defense.”
Former UNC-Asheville standout and Harlem Globetrotter John Williams who owns JWB Elite Training in Asheville, North Carolina trains Reece and had this to say about the rising senior, “Harper shows tremendous upside. Great court vision due to a steady and controlled handle, consistent shooter which comes with the Rosman HS territory, and a fierce defender. Not to mention the kid has shot up to 6’3 over the summer.”
Michael Cottrell, the Head Coach at Smoky Mountain Conference rival Hayesville High School had this to say about him, “Harper is one of the premier players coming back in the SMC. He is a excellent floor leader. Team first guy. Has the ability to score from the pt position. But is happy finding open man. Look for him to have a good year for rosman as his role will change. Tough matchup for opponents.”
He has not received a offer yet but has heard from Roanoke College and wants to find a school with good academics and a place that he feels at home for college.
Reece should be considered a Division Two to low Division One recruit and will be a player who is tough, competitive and will do what it takes to win.
