This off-season we have seen a staggering number of transfers from public school heading to private school and even some private school stars moving to a different private school for various reason. Well Malique Jacobs definitely has to be added to the list of players that are transferring that have a very good chance of making an early impact at their new school. During his time as New Hanover HS he put together some very impressive game and really turned a lot of heads with his play especially during the Farmville Central HS MLK day tournament.
What makes him special?
Malique has a very smooth game, with a natural scoring ability that makes it seems like the game comes easy for him, he is the type of player that you can simply give the ball and tell him to get you a bucket. He has good ball handling skills and does a good job of keeping his defender guessing, he also knocks down shots from midrange and deep at a high rate as well as getting to the cup with easy. He is what we would call a sneaky athlete, he doesn’t look like a player that can dunk on a big man but he absolutely has the ability to do so. Malique has a slender frame at this point but embraces contact very well when attacking the basket, he finishes those plays at a high rate and spends a good amount of time at the free throw line. On the defensive end of the floor he can be as good of a player as he wants to be, he simply has to dedicate himself to be as good of a defender as he is a scorer. Recruiting wise he hasn’t received a lot of interest but D1 schools should keep a close eye on him, as we fully expect him to have a big time season at Bull City Prep.
