Lefty Moore — All Iowa Attack Program Director
Austin Roetman, 6’7 F, Pocahontas Area (2017)
“He had a little bit of an up-and-down summer with us. But Austin is definitely a solid high school player, and he’s probably a Division II or NAIA kid. And I think those are the kind of schools that have been looking at him. He’s got good size on him, he’s about 6’8, and he can shoot 3s, and every now and then he can get into the lane and bang around and make some shots down there. I still think that he prefers to play on the perimeter more than he does just to be a banger on the inside. But at Pocahontas High School he’s going to be pretty tough to deal with just because of his size and the way he shoots the ball. He moves pretty well, but sometimes it was hard to get him to play hard all the time. I think some of that has to do with him playing at a smaller school, and he didn’t always have to push himself to be better than everyone at times.”
Grant Kramer, 6’6 G/F, Johnston (2017)
“I love Grant, he’s played with us a couple years now. Grant is legit 6’6 maybe close to 6’7. And he’s versatile, he can just do a lot of stuff. There were a lot of times when I had him play point guard for us — he can bring the ball up the court and stuff like that. He’s a pretty good shooter, though he’s not a great shooter. He gets to the rim pretty good for his size. And he’s a really good rebounder and defender. And he’s a good kid. I know that he’s picked up a couple Division II offers, but I know that he’s on some Division I teams’ radars, and they’ve talked to me about him. One was UMass Lowell, they’ve shown some interest. And another Ivy League school has shown interest — he’s really smart and has really good grades. I’m really a huge fan of Grant, he was a little bit of the bull on our team, just the way he played and stuff.”
Collin Hill, 6’4 G/F, South Hamilton (2017)
“I’ve had Collin since seventh-grade, and he’s still not back to where he was before that leg injury. But he made a lot of progress this summer. This summer he really attacked the rim and he really played with a lot of energy and played hard. He always wanted to guard the other team’s best player. He was the leader of that team. And he still can’t shoot the ball as good as he’s going to, but when he gets that figured out again he’s going to make someone really happy.”
Kyle Lang, 5’11 PG, Mason City (2017)
“I love Kyle, man. He’s a great, great kid, and I think he’s a really good player. I think Kyle is a solid Division II point guard. This was his first year playing with us, he had never played AAU basketball before. Kyle is just athletic, he’s quick, he can shoot it, he can get by people, he handles the ball, is a good passer. I think if Kyle played with us for a few years and not just this year — because he kind of came out of nowhere — that he would definitely be a Division II player. And he’s smart, he’s coach-able. I really, really, really enjoyed coaching him this summer. He’s a really good kid.”
Joey Kern, 5’11 PG, Dowling (2017)
“I like Joey, man. He’s a fun kid, he’s a good player. He’s solid, he can make shots and he handles the ball pretty well. He’s not overly athletic, and he probably needs to try and work on that a little bit. But I know that he’s got some D2 schools looking at him. And if I was the coach at a D2 school, he’d be the kind of guy that I would love to have. But, man, Joey is like… whatever perfect score on an ACT is, if it’s a 35, he has a 34 or something like that. So I know he’s been looking at some Ivy League schools and schools like that, and maybe trying to walk-on. But he could go anywhere with his grades, any school in the country. I think that he’s looking at doing something like that right now. But he had a really good summer playing for the Black Team, and he played with us (on the Red Team) a couple times, and he did a really good job with that too.”
