Brandon Jolly, who took over head basketball coaching duties in 2007 has resigned. Jolly led Lake Norman High School to the 2010 NCHSAA 4-A state championship as #3 seed beating Fayetteville Terry Sanford High School who was undefeated at the time. Jolly and Lake Norman High School finished runner-up in 2014 losing to Apex High School 62-59 and finished 28-2. He had a overall record of 156-80 in his nine seasons at the school including three conference championships. Coach Jolly sent numerous players to the college level including 2010 state champion member Reggie Price to Hampton University, Troy Warren to Catawba College, KiShawn Pritchett to Davidson College, Hunter Seacat to William & Mary, 2010 state champion MVP Paul Larsen to Mercer and USA-Aiken.
The Charlotte Observer’s Langston Wertz cited spending time with his two children and “not feeling it” anymore as reasons for Jolly’s departure. Last season, Lake Norman High School finished 13-13 and 10-4 in the North Piedmont Conference. The Wildcats advanced to the first-round of the NCHSAA 4-A state playoffs before losing to Butler High School.
