One game in particular that I remember was the East Region Finals in 2015 where Reed came up with a big time scoring and rebounding performance which would lead him to being named East Region Most Outstanding Player. Well this season looks as if Reed will be taking on more of the leadership role for his squad and that was very clear throughout the duration of camp. He has a very strong frame and is an outstanding rebounder, he has a mixture of strength, athleticism and a very high motor which allows him to be very effective on both ends of the floor. His jump shot from midrange and the elbow area of the floor has always been pretty consistent but now he’s knocking down the trey ball at a higher rate which makes him even more dangerous.
College coaches definitely need to stop in and check him out with Garner Road this summer and next season, at this point his college recruitment hasn’t been heavy but that should change very soon. Reed is the type of player that you would want in your college program for numerous reasons: First and foremost he’s been coached by some of the top coaches in the state during school ball and during the AAU season. Secondly he’s a player that you don’t have to run play for, he creates offense with his ability to secure rebounds on the defensive end and keep plays alive on the offensive end which leads to him being a double-double machine. Last but not least Alex has that next level toughness, unlike many youngsters these days who may be somewhat mentally and physically soft in those areas.
