The 2017 prospect, who stands 6’1”, recently received basketball camp invitations to Rider University (NJ), Grand Valley State (MI), Marietta College, Trevecca Nazarene (TN), and Fairmont State (WV). Furthermore, he has received interest from Walsh Jesuit, Queens (NC), and Alfred (NY)

“I just want to go to the best school possible, where I can play basketball,” Stablein said, who carries a 4.0 GPA and hopes to major in engineering.
“If I can use basketball to help me get into the best school I can, you know, that’d be great … I would like to have a pretty good relationship with my coach. And a nice campus overall. I don’t care where, like location doesn’t matter to me, just a place where I can play basketball.”
Stablein’s IQ is a quality he brings with him to the court as well as the classroom. He has a win-oriented focus that is a part of every decision he makes with the rock.
“Whether it’s assist or asked to score, just, overall do things for the team win. I’d say I’m a pretty smart basketball player, high IQ,” Stablein said.
“Well, I mean, I’ve always been a smaller guy. You know, being smaller, I’ve had to get my shot off against bigger guys. And now that I’ve grown into my size, I still have that game.”
He does an outstanding job of using pump fakes against eager defenders, and once he throws them off just half a step, he’s ready to launch. The three-point shot is a big part of his game, but he also uses clever adjustments in the paint to hit floaters and pull-ups.
Stablein will be back in action with All Ohio White in July, including a trip to Myrtle Beach for an AAU tournament. Considering that a lot of his interest is coming from the eastern shore, it will serve as a chance for said scouts to check out his game.
In the winter, The Patriots of Olentangy Liberty will be returning a bevy of seniors — a group Stablein is excited to be a part of.
“We’re looking pretty good. We’ll have a lot of seniors this year, so that will be good. We’ll come together as a team. So we’ll have a strong senior class, and we’ll see what happens … I think we got like seven seniors.”
