Now, he’s seeing plenty of interest from Division II and NAIA programs, and could be on the verge of picking up several offers this July.
“Doane has contacted me the most right now; and Central, Simpson, Upper Iowa, Sioux Falls, Grand View, Morningside, Minnesota-Duluth, William-Penn, and Winona State,” said the 6-foot-2 guard.
“I feel like Doane is close to offering me sometime soon, and then Sioux Falls and Morningside have been coming at me pretty hard I would say.”
The ADM stock-riser is currently mixing it up with a crop of area Division I players in the YMCA Capital City League. He’s scored 20 points or more in three of his team’s six games, and says one current Cyclones player is especially effective at motivating him.
“It’s fun, it’s like a whole different level though, it’s so fast paced. (Cyclones forward) Deonte Burton is on my team, and when he passes it to me he just tells me to shoot. And if I miss he just tells me to keep on shooting and to not hang my head,” said Ross.
“He really helps me keep my confidence up is I start missing shots. It’s good to have that kind of leader on the team.”
Later this month Ross will play in three live period events with Kingdom Hoops 17U Red. He says he’s ready for the grind.
“My plan is, I just want to play how I know I can play. And I want college coaches to notice that, and I want to get some offers on the table,” said Ross.
“My recruitment is definitely a top priority for me. I just hope it all comes together well. I hope I play well in July, and I think I’m going to. I’ve trained my whole life for this, and I’m just waiting for it to happen finally.”
