However since grassroots ball picked up for its summer sessions, the Cincinnati Oak Hills 2017 has seen an uptick.
“I’ve been seeing a lot more recruitment in July since AAU started back up. Air Force is interested, Concord, Hillsdale, and Lake Erie, and all that interest has come since July started,” said Rudy, who also mentioned Navy and University of Charleston have been showing interest.
A versatile and big wing, Rudy mentioned to PHO that most of his successes come from shooting and exploiting smaller guards.
“I consider my strength to probably be shooting the ball, either off-the-dribble or standstill. And I can use my size pretty well on defense against smaller guards,” said Rudy. “Another strength is rebounding. And I look to pass more than I do shoot, I like to find my teammates open.”
The senior-to-be spent his 17U grassroots season playing with Shining Stars.
“I was looking to improve on my ball-handling and then my ability to come off of screens and shoot the ball. And I think I got better at both of those things this summer,” said Rudy, who now heads into his final season with the Highlanders.
“I think if our team does well in high school then that will attract more coaches. So hopefully we can do that this season.”
