The 1st team All-District point guard averaged 31 points per game this past season and is starting to get the notice of college programs nationally. South Florida and American have offered and he’s hearing from Liberty, College of Charleston, Charlotte, & Davidson lately.
Lincoln Charter School advanced to the NCHSAA 1-A Final Four this past season which ended in a loss to 1-A powerhouse Winston-Salem Prep on a buzzer-beater. “It still stings and I think about it almost everyday, it only makes us want it more and some of the players from Winston-Salem Prep are on my aau team (Team Charlotte) and are always talking junk, so we have to win it all next year.”
“My goals for the summer are to continue to get better as a player and team and to make a run in the finals and the rest of the tournaments throughout the summer and at Lincoln charter is to win a state championship we have gotten closer every year and we all believe this is our year.”
A pass first point guard with eyes in the back of his head and a high basketball IQ, Shubert is a scoring point guard. He can take over a game at any point and can shoot the lights out from anywhere on the floor. He has good size at 6-foot-1 and is strong for his age. “I’m a scoring pg that likes to get his teammates open and make them better, I can see the floor really well and am athletic enough to finish over bigger defenders in the lane.”
Shubert has been a varsity starter since his freshman year when he averaged just over 19 points per game. He is playing this summer with Team Charlotte on the Under Armour circuit. “We didn’t make the finals because we struggled a little but I think we are coming together and will do good in the open division Under Armour finals.”
