Continue ReadingIt’s a bit crazy to think that Keve Aluma first started playing basketball just 3 years ago. The 6-foot-8 power forward, who hails from Berlin, Maryland, was one of the most consistent performers during Hoop Group Elite 1 in Reading last week. Aluma earned a well-deserved spot in the Top 20 All-Star Game as a result of his steady play, and has seen a recent uptick in his recruitment.
Heading into the first live period with three offers from UMES, Howard, and Stony Brook, Aluma has landed two offers from Canisus and Coppin State since the weekend. Delaware, and Arkansas State are reported to have interest in Aluma’s services as well. A solid rebounder of the ball, especially in traffic, coaches are intrigued by Aluma’s ability to fortify the interior and play with energy.
“I play hard I run the floor,” Aluma said. “I rebound, and I just play hard.”
The rising senior, who attends Stephen Decatur High, has gone under-the-radar to this point. He’s an underrated rebounder who boxes out, has strong hands and has a great work rate. Aluma constantly makes rim runs and can hit the 15 footer as well. Aluma is a gym rat who is committed to improving each aspect of his game.
“I can get better at all of it,” Aluma began, “so that’s what Im gonna work on.”
Owning a 3.1 GPA, Aluma is a strong student in the classroom. Aluma hasn’t quite determined the main factors are when selecting the right school, but there’s one thing that he’s certain of.
“I don’t really know right now what I want,” he began. “I just know that I’d like to be able to go for free.”
Look for Aluma to continue to see his recruitment trend upward during the upcoming live periods while he runs on the AAU circuit with Uncommon Bulls.
