Recruiting Report: Jordan Fabry (2017)

The amount of practice Jordan Fabry does away from the court is reflected in his junior season averages for Crestwood High School: 23.6 points, 9.4 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 3.1 steals. Those numbers earned him Third Team All-Ohio in Division II.
Fabry, a 2017 combo guard who plays AAU ball for SMAC Primetime, has received interest for basketball and playing quarterback.
While his athleticism translates to both sports, basketball is where his heart is at.
“I’m more interested in basketball. And people are more interested in me for basketball,” Fabry said.
Cleveland State was the only school mentioned by name on the basketball side.
“Cleveland State is definitely a place I’d like to go. I haven’t been offered by them yet, but they’ve shown some interest in me.”
How about football?
“I went to the Purdue camp and talked to their coach. I talked to some D-II, D-III colleges. Went to Mount Union’s football camp, won the pro agility for the quarterbacks,” Fabry said.
Colleges interested in Fabry don’t have to worry a liability in the effort department. He’s proud of the work he puts in when nobody is watching, and it manifests itself on the court byway of wins.
“That’s really all I’m worried about, is getting wins for our team. No matter how it looks … I’ve just always been competitive in trying to win,” Fabry said.
Scoring ability, from slashing and pull-up jumpers, and anticipation are strong points in his game.
Those rebounding numbers from the guard spot are unusual, and he credits that to his ability to see rebounds before others. Many of his offensive rebounds truly are just from positioning himself cleverly, but his hangtime and body control in the air is impressive.
“I pride myself on getting loose balls and getting second chance points. Getting offensive rebounds. I like making the extra pass, let my other guys score. I don’t need to always do the scoring,” Fabry said.
In order to take his game to the next level, he will have to consistently finish on drives, sure up the ball-handling, and speed up his release.
“As far as my weaknesses go, I’d say, ball handling … Getting to the rim, I’m not the biggest guy. Definitely got to finish better around the rim … Quick release is something I need, lot of people have told me that.”

Fabry carries a GPA just above 3.0.
It’s fair to say that he’s a slightly unknown commodity, given his combination of ability and effort.
Crestwood isn’t the most prestigious high school basketball program, but they’re worth your time in the winter, because this kid is special.
There’s one more chance to catch him this summer, as SMAC Primtime is currently at GRBA Nationals in Fort Wayne.
