Last season, Village Christian took home the NCISAA 2A State Championship and put together a very impressive record throughout the regular season. As we know, any good team needs a big man and/or a legitimate rebounder that can control the glass on both ends of the floor as well as protecting the paint and that is exactly the role Nassyr has played for Village Christian.
Shot Blocking& Rebounding Machine
Over the past few years we have watched Nas very closely and his progress has been very impressive, each year he has improved and it looks as though he will continue to progress over the next few years. One attribute that college coaches will like about Nas is his ability to block shots, he does a very good job of timing when the shot is going to go up instead of jumping too early like many other bigs do. In one particular game this season he had a game where he had double digit blocked shots (15) to go along with 21 Points and 11 rebounds in a win over Wake Christian. Offensively he does a good job of keeping the ball high when he catches it in the paint and finishing without putting the ball on the floor, he also stays very active on the offensive glass to provide extra opportunities for his team.
Overall Great Kid
Most importantly Nassyr is very respectful and coachable young man, he doesn’t say much on the court but is constantly listening and learning from his coaches to correct whatever mistakes are going on. Which is why we believe that Nas will not have any issues being coached at the college level, it seems as if he wants to learn and get better every single day, if he keeps that attitude he can develop into a very nice player in college. As of now his recruitment has been very quiet but UNC-Pembroke and Winston Salem State University have inquired recently about him and we won’t be surprised to see some D2 program offer soon.
