2017 Jal Lieth, 6’3, SF, Kingdom Hoops (Montezuma): Defensively, Lieth played with a lot of energy and a little bit of a means treak, which frustrated his opponents. He used his length and timing to provide help defense and block a couple of shots from the weakside. He’s very quick and doesn’t hesitate to push the ball in transition after a defensive rebound or a steal.
2017 Byron Williams, 6’1, SG, Kingdom Hoops (Des Moines Lincoln): A tough-nosed defender who is good on the ball. Offensively, he was a bit loose with the ball.
2017 Austin Phyfe, 6’9, F/C, Barnstormers (Waverly-Shell Rock): The Northern Iowa commit showed quite a bit of skill alongside his typical imposing physical stature. He finished through contact, did a great job sealing in the post and catching tough passes in a small window.
2017 Austin Ash, 6’2, G, Barnstormers (Mount Vernon): Ash doesn’t have an orthodox – or particularly pretty – release on his jumper, but it is darn sure effective. He’s an extremely accurate shooter from well beyond the arc and has to be guarded about as soon as he crosses halfcourt. His size and strength is concerning for the next level, but Ash plays with a motor, tenaciousness and grittiness that goes a long way. He plays extremely hard, is always aware of his surroundings and is not afraid to sacrifice to make a play.
2017 Kelvin Miller, 6’0, PG, Barnstormers (Davenport Central): Miller is one of the best energy players in the state. He’s always going full speed, which is very fast for the speedy guard. He’s tough as nails, too. From a skill set perspective, Miller is a strong and clever finisher at the rim, finding tough angles to finish around length.
