- Matthew Hurt is Perfect. Maybe not perfect overall, but perfect from the field! Hurt scored 24 points on seven of seven field goal shooting and ten of ten foul shooting. In there was a beautiful pull-up on the baseline, another cutting dunk over the defense, a gorgeous step-through in the post, and the usual attack left into a right handed jumper.
- In Honor of Alec! Luke Loehr went off for 33 points today in the Minnesota Warrior win today in the NY2LA Final Chapter. His brother Alec is back home and while this isn’t quite a “do it for the Knipper” moment, Luke did have to pick up the scoring and he did it with 33. Both have Navy and Army offers.
- Pulley Race for 50! 50 wins. Is it possible. The Panthers are up to 46 wins and have three days to win four more games to reach 50 wins. They are right now 46-5. Today the Panthers beat the Miami Tropics and LV Prospects in convincing fashion. Gary Trent Jr had 20 against the Prospects while Isaac Johnson nailed three treys and connected with Tre Jones six times in transitions for scores. Tre had nine points, eight boards, and eight assists.
- Race Thompson Shines. All the Minnesota coaches were there, Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Tennessee, many others, they all saw Race dominate the first game with four treys and 20 points and then he had 10 and 14 in the later game. Thompson showed everything: his low post defense, board battle, three point touch, floor push, explosive finishes, vision, etc.
- Holy Christensen! Nick Christensen made seven threes for the Heat Vang team today as they won the opener. Nick is an East Ridge kid that is known for his touch and today the refs, opponents, coaches, and everyone else will remember it.
- Comets Balance. The Comets won both of their games this evening including a blowout of DTA and then a win over IBA Stars. Every player on the team had at least five points in the win over IBA.
- Jarvis the JYD! A big reason Jarvis Thomas has the five D1 offers (added Arizona State today) is his incredible effort to board, finish, and contest. His extreme length and explosive athletic ability have been there but now Jarvis is battling like a junkyard dog and grabbing the coaches attention. He’s got our attention as he will be grabbing a boost in the next 2018 rankings.
- Luke’s Commitment. This is a young man that once again showed today why he was an Apple Valley starter and they didn’t miss a beat. The kid is a competitor and a guy that does everything that is asked of him. A better athlete than you think and a fantastic defender for Select Ohnstad this afternoon.
- CJ’s Touch. The Select/DeLaSalle guard is known for a defender but today he was a scorer. At one point CJ Dickson had 25 of his team’s 36 points and he totaled 27 for the game scoring in every which way in the Select Altenhofen win. The three point touch looks much better. Everybody knows he can defend and now we are seeing the shooting touch.
- Dominic the Defender. Dom Bledsoe is a fantastic defender taught by David Thorson at DeLaSalle and that D was on display today. Bledsoe also shot the ball well today too.
